Posters have had an eventful history since they were first used to advertise products at the dawn of the printing age. Although they are still used today to advertise anything from movies to music concerts and travel, they have also had an interesting brush with some of the most moment's events in history…
Propaganda and Political Posters
During both the First World War (also known as the Great War) of 1914 – 1918 and the Second World War of 1935 – 1945 recruiting posters became very common, many of which have become part of the national consciousness of all of the participants in both wars. Examples of the posters are:
Lord Kitchener Wants You (British and Commonwealth – World War 1)Uncle Sam Wants You (American – World Wars 1 and 2)The Winter Aid (Winterhilfswerk) Appeal (German – World War 2)Long live Red Army of workers and peasants – the true guard of the Soviet borders (Russian – World War 2)
During this time posters were also used to warn of foreign spies:
Loose Lips Sink Ships (British and Commonwealth – World War 2)
And to exhort people to work harder for the war effort:
Rosie The Riveter (British and Commonwealth – World War 2)
Later on, in 1989, during the democratic revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe propaganda posters once again played a part in motivating change and national fervor. These posters were often hand-made and were posted on political rally points such as the statue of St. Wenseslas in Prague, the Berlin Wall and the grave of Imre Nagy (a Hungarian communist politician who was brought down by the Soviet invasion during the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1956) in Budapest.
The film and movie industry around the world also used the power of the poster to inform and entice patrons to watch their movies. Some of the most well know movie posters over the years have been:
Metropolis (1927)The Mummy (1932)Bride of Frankenstein (1935)Star Wars, A New Hope (1977)Alien (1979)Back to the Future (1985)
Since the introduction of public forms of transport such as trains, ships and planes posters have been used to promote holiday destinations both within a local environment and around the globe. One of the most well known forms of travel posters can be dated back to the 1920's and 1930's in which Art Deco style posters were used to advertise American beach resorts.
The Modern Use of Posters
In this day and age posters are more popular than ever and are still used to advertise anything from the latest blockbuster movies to comic book launches. This is because they are cost effective, vibrant and can be used to evoke an emotion from people that very few other advertising mediums can.
Looking At Ultrasound Pictures Of Stages Of Pregnancy
The history of ultrasound is based in the sonar that was used by the worlds navies during World War 2. After the war, researchers began experimenting with sonar to see if it could be helpful in medical diagnosis. It was first used to detect cancers and other growths that needed medical attention. It wasnt until the 1950s that the medical community recognized that sonar could be useful to take ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy.Ultrasound is a series of very high frequency sound waves. These sound waves are of a frequency that can not be heard by humans, so they are not detected by the woman or the fetus. A tool called a transducer, which looks something like a stethoscope, is placed on a womans abdomen. The sounds go through her skin and bounce back off whatever they contact inside the abdomen, producing an image that resembles a fuzzy black and white photograph. These images have become the now familiar ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy. The use of ultrasound became increasingly prevalent in the 1960s. By then, scientists had discovered that, if the sound waves were in motion, the Doppler Effect would produce more accurate pictures. The Doppler Effect is familiar to most people when they hear a horn coming toward them and then moving away. Since sound is different if it is coming or going, the technique was used to produce more accurate pictures. The technique also allows ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy to detect motion of the fetus. By accident, it was learned that the best ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy were produced when the techniques was used on women with full bladders. The use of ultrasound has become a common practice in obstetrics and women usually enjoy seeing the first pictures of their infants. Ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy are most common in the second and third trimesters of the pregnancy. By that point, the fetus is usually large enough that it can easily be detected. During the next several weeks, depending on the position of the fetus, it may be possible for a woman to discover not only the gender of her child, but whether or not she is carrying more than one child. This information, however, is not infallible, as the pictures can be misleading in the earlier weeks of the second trimester. As the fetus grows and its organs, arms, legs, fingers, toes and head become more recognizable, it is easier to detect the gender of the child or children. The ultrasound pictures of stages of pregnancy also allow practiced physicians to detect any possible problems in the fetus.

Thanks To Da Vinci Anyone Can Learn To Fly A Plane
In 1496 a talented inventor and artist attempted to get the world’s first passenger flying machine airborne, but to no avail. Several centuries later, the sketches produced by Leonardo da Vinci helped propel aviation to new heights, literally. There are people alive today that witnessed the first zeppelin, followed by the first passenger aeroplane and the rise and fall of Concorde. It is extraordinary to think that aviation safety has advanced to such a degree that anyone can learn to fly a plane.Images of people leaping off a pier desperately clinging to a homemade contraption that would have made the Wright Brothers wince is what many people first think of at the thought of an average Joe wanting to learn to fly a plane. However, there are a number of courses and days out that enable anyone with nerves of steel to take over the controls of a private aircraft to learn to fly.As any pilot will tell you it is taking off and landing that require the skills honed by pilots over the years, so in that respect flying itself is relatively easy once up in the air. Micro gliders and small passenger craft are favourites for thrill seekers, as are stunt planes where would be pilots can have a go at doing a loop da loop thousands of feet above the ground. Some flying lessons can count towards gaining a pilot’s licence, rather than just being for fun. These lessons allow the novice pilot to take off and land to get to grips with the controls. In aviation industry it is said that every landing is a controlled crash, with no two ever the same, so the more lessons that can be had to practice this element, the quicker someone can learn to fly a plane and gain a pilot licence. Most pilots are fairly anonymous unless they have been involved in combat, but one pilot who is a household name is testament to the fact that nowadays anyone can learn to fly a plane. The actor John Travolta now has a full pilot licence which entitles him to fly a Boeing 707, a passenger airliner that is just one of five planes that he owns. Learning to fly a plane brings with it some logistical problems, especially if you want to keep your craft near your home. Travolta has famously taken up a residence that is connected to Greystone Airport so that not only does he have somewhere to park his plane, he is also able to taxi to his very own runway right from his front door.

Let Your Imagination Take Flight Down Under At The Australian International Airshow
Tipped to be the largest air show of its nature in the southern hemisphere the Australian International Airshow is a one of a kind aerial spectacle that is conducted on a biennial basis. Hosted at the renowned Avalon Airport between Geelong and Melbourne Victoria this international event sees the likes of the United States Air Force and the United States Navy head down under for a aerial display well worth experiencing first hand. Typically held during the month of March the Australian International Air show's chief attraction is of course the displays put on by Australia's own Royal Australian Air Force.
With a rich history that dates back decades Avalon' s first air show was conducted as far back as 1957 while one of the most breathtaking displays were organized decades later in 1988 to mark the Australian bicentenary at Richmond Airbase. Commercial air shows in contrast began in Avalon in 1992 when the event moved to Geelong where the first Australian International Airshow was hosted in Victoria. Attended by nearly 175,000 spectators the highly successful first installment of the Australian International Airshows at Avalon featured 225 exhibition flights by a whopping 12 countries from across the world. Ten years later the tenth edition of the Australian International Airshow at Avalon saw 195,000 visitors attend the event that was also held to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Royal Australian Air Force as well as the centenary celebrations of the country's first commercial passenger flight.
Running from the 1st to the 6th of March last year the 2011 edition featured a laser showcase with flare drops and aerobatic displays on gliders and army jets taking place for the first time ever. Named “Friday Night Alight” this unique attraction was a memorable item on the program which included aerial stunts by over 100 aircrafts which included surveillance airplanes, bomber jets and fighter jets as well. Other high points included the unveiling of the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and the showcase of the Bombardier Global Express XRS executive jets while performances by aircrafts and pilots hailing from Singapore, France, Italy and New Zealand were equally memorable.

Selling such an aircraft would be tough. Furthermore, from a buyer's perspective would you be able to look and judge beyond the essential interior decor standards and concerns and buy an aircraft having other attributes perfect? It is true that other features and amenities are essential, but one should not overlook the value of the obvious. Tips To Buy Indian Stock Images On Cheaper Price With Good Quality
There are many ways to buy Indian stock images at a cheaper price and that too good quality images. Certain things that one needs to keep in mind while selecting an image are:
1 Selecting Image Size
Image sizes typically range from an extra small size to an XXlarge. The size you’ll need really depends on what you intend to use it on. If you’re looking to add images to your website, eBook, newsletter or other online media then you will rarely need a size larger. If you’re looking to download an image for print then you’ll want to consider your end use that whether you want business stock images or any other. One thing to remember, the larger the original image is the better quality it will be when making changes to it.
2 Determining Image quality
Determining image quality leans slightly on the complex side for those of us unfamiliar with the digital photo industry. When you were to ask an experienced photographer they will tell you to look for resolution and dpi, whatever those are! But there is a way for the rest of us to determine image quality.First, view the image in the full size that one plans to purchase. This is typically done by clicking on the image itself. If it’s clear and smooth in appearance one can mark it as a quality image. Another excellent way to know if images are of good quality would be to read the reviews. A website that has a consistent record of positive reviews is a safe bet on a good image.
3 Finding the Best Place to Buy Images
When considering where to buy the images from one needs to do some homework. With so many options out there one is at a higher risk of getting photos of low quality or no quality at all for that matter. When evaluating websites here are a few things to keep in mind:
Copyright – generally speaking you are looking for royalty free photos here. You don’t want to get caught up in too many copyright restrictions when using images, though some restrictions are expected at times.
Variety – a quality site should provide you with a large selection to choose from
Pricing options – top sites usually offer multiple pricing options from a single image to package deals with an overall average price of about per image (smaller size). If you start seeing prices over per image for these small sizes move on!
Customer support – if you can’t reach them, don’t buy from them!
Satisfaction guarantee – a site offering high quality photos will be proud to offer some form of satisfaction guarantee even if it’s only to refund your money for a corrupted download.
Become a repeat customer – once you’ve found a site you like bookmark for future use. Why go through all the hassle of evaluating another site later on when you’ve found one that has all you’re looking for.
Perhaps the most important tip I can give you is this; when you’re ready to buy stock photos online don’t go at it in the dark. Familiarize yourself with the different sizes and their uses. Choose a handful of popular stock websites and compare their prices and package discounts so you’ll know if the pricing you find is fair. Finally, understand the current copyright laws so these cheap webmasters can’t scam you into paying full price for limited use.
